This one is for all of you Downton Abbey Fans! As you know, I am a huge fan myself. I just cannot get enough of it, can you? Well, how about a site dedicated to Edwardian meals called Downton Abbey Cooks? Okay after taking a deeper looking into the site I figured out it is actually a personal blog but still, Pamela who writes it and cooks all the dishes is AMAZING! It will defiantly give you a little taste of what it would have been like if you ate Mrs. Patmore's culinary delights!
I recently spotlighted Reminisce Magazine but did you know they have a website also? Omg! It is filled with dozens upon dozens of stories and photos from the past. You will never get bored reading through all the information and looking at the lovely imagery of days gone by. I think this is becoming one of my favorite to sites to go to throughout the week. Oh, and they take submissions! If you have stories or photos of the past-send it in! I wish I had more photos-I have loads of the 60s and 70s of my parents though-maybe I can find a treasure in there somewhere hehe
Oh look at this treasure that I found. The 1940's Ball site not only hosts about two or three 1940's themed balls a year but oodles more information as well as photos from the balls from the years before. I have to say that after looking through the photos I was reminded of how we have no real 1940's events that happen in New York, let alone enough vintage events to fill your calendar up for the year. Such a shame! But, perhaps that means I may have to travel one day to Colorado to attend one of these balls! Who's with me?
There are so many reasons I love the UK and one of them is that the ladies there really know how to be a 1940's women. They just really embrace the culture and times of the 40's in a way I have yet to see happen here in the States. I really hope one day I can go back and immerse myself in everything vintagey that I could find especially in England. Boy-I sure can dream hehe
The 1940's Society is UK based, so I don't think membership is open for those outside, but they have an amazing shop, oodles of links, and information that can keep you reading for days. It is defiantly worth taking a peak at!
This one is for you 1950's loving gals! It seriously has an endless amount of links; music, cars, fashion, fads, slang, pop history, games, tv...you name it and it has it. It also has a little bit of information on the 1960's too. I love reading about what people did, watching, said...oh dear I think I am showing my nerdiness to all of you haha No wonder I almost became an Anthropology major in college-I love studying people!
Well, my dear readers, these are five cool vintage sites that I hope you will check out sometime. If you know of others I would love to hear about them!!
